Sitting around smoking with your friends, yelling anarchy at random people, mohawking or spiking your hair, patching and planting spikes on your jacket, and resisting arrest from 5o(cops).these people i just described are punk. Kids today still do that, they're still punk. Punk lives.

"the sinking economy" if you ask me now is a good a time as any for punk to make a comeback or some sort of active movement. no one has the money for anything anymore, sales are at an all time low, people cant pay their gas or morgage, the streets are anarchy, you are more likely to get shot on your front doorstop than ever before and the government spends its efforts on cramping all sorts from other countries into an already crouded island and now they are starting on your personal choices, like no smoking in pubs, i dont smoke myself, but i wonder where all this will lead, when will they ban drinking, then partying before you know it life is gonna be, well pretty crap, thats if you can afford to keep yourself alive. i'd say a rebellion now would be more justifyed then in the 70s even, perhaps someone should start it.

goths and emo's did NOT infect the punk scene..ok...emo maybe... but the silly little 13 year old clad in black so called 'goths' that are running around are simply comfused metal heads...(they are the ones doing the infecting-thinking they know what anarchy is etc.)Real Gothic culture is entirely different..and very few understand what it is.
It most certainly isn't 'infectious' although Gothic music has been described as ''punk's sick little sister' . However,Gothic culture is much more than just the music, many true goths do not even listen to Gothic music.-and believe it or not,Goths are not half as common as you'd think, the real ones anyhow.
Anyhow,I do agree that punk was great, and probably the best thing that ever happened..the anti authoritarian/individualist mindframe is something that should be employed by so many more individuals, sadly punk does seem to have taken the backseat ,but it is still there,thankfully..it just seems to have lost its voice

Punk isn't dead it's changed and moved. Sure its been infected, but the punk movement is still out there. Not saying it hasn't had its ups and downs just saying that just because it's base isn't in England's sinking economy anymore doesn't mean it died. If you moved from one city to the next your not ddead are you? Also some issues have changed and there are lots of sub branches, or poseurs but its not dead. Its still here.
