Isn't it always cold and wet? Or is it just that way when I've been hiking there?

Planetross

Ah yes, I remember summer in Japan!

I lived there for year (taught English.... like so many others)and I couldn't believe how hot and humid it got. One morning I found that my leather boots had grow a fine furry fungus about half an inch all over them.

I used to get so chaffed that I'd paint my backside with so much mercurochrome that I looked like a baboon in heat when I used to go to the sento.

That thing looks similar to a metal sculpture/statue/art thing outside a local elementary school here.
I'll have to take a photo of it.
I'm on a mission now.

Sitting here sweating in shorts with all the windows open and debating whether to go to the beach or not this weekend; winter seems a long way off.

Pat

I've just watched a news report on the sunrise of the summer solstice at Stonehenge and people were so rugged up that it looked like our winter. Sunrise on the summer solstice here in Australia would have people probably dressed in T-shirts and shorts.

People who complain about the weather and winter here in Australia have no idea!

Hey, with the weather we're having, it's winter here, too! Always surprises me that we are on opposite calendars!
